Engineering

Development and management of NERT’s Emergency Mobile Trailer Unit (EMTU) fleet is one of the many responsibilities of this department. EMTU enhancement, maintenance, inventory management, and even production are every day responsibilities.

Manufacturing

Of the many activities, manufacturing of Emergency Mobile Trailer Units (EMTU) is probably the most important.  EMTU’s are used 42-53’ trailers converted into temporary living quarters for 10-12 people. These units are designed to provide immediate shelter for victims of a disaster or responding emergency crews. EMTU’s are specifically designed and strategically located so that they can be dispatched and onsite within 8-12 hours of a disaster situation.

Equipment

Procurement, management, and positioning of all NERT equipment is a sizable task for this department.  Most equipment positioning is donated by common truck carriers and drivers across the country.
